Getting prepared for our venture into Solar PV

Solar PV Solar Panels renewable energy

Wow April what a busy month you’ve been for us.  For our business, this last month has been super busy.  Not only have we had our regular work to keep up with but we have been getting prepared for our venture into Solar PV Installation.   Looking back on previous years, April and May do seem to be very busy months for our company, as many of our customers seem to be busy getting their homes and gardens ready for the summer months finally approaching. Easter was certainly a nice break for us to recharge our batteries.

Charl who is our Customer Service Manager,  has worked non stop taking calls and booking customers in.   Along side our normal call out work, we have completed numerous EICRs and their subsequent remedial works.  We’ve carried out fault finding, installed electric to sheds and changed numerous light fittings.  We’ve carried out outside light installations,  installed sockets, replaced showers and had our usual yearly alarms to service.  We have also installed consumer units, Ring doorbells, thermostats, alarms, security cameras, EV charge points and outside sockets.

Phew I’m shattered just thinking about it.  Charl and the lads have worked so hard and the excellent reviews from our happy customers are coming in.

Rewire and second fixing

Along with the above list of works completed this month, the lads have also been working on a rewire at a house in Findern.  The family have had an extension and kitchen refit.   Along side these works, they have decided to have the house rewired.   The job is coming along nicely, with the rear extension and new kitchen being second fixed as you can see in the images below.

Tea, Cakes and Furry helpers.

We cant complain though, make hay while the sunshines as they say.  Our customers have looked after us well, providing us with plenty of tea and cakes to keep us going.  We have even had a few customers dogs helping us out and keeping us company.

Our vans have covered some miles this month travelling to jobs all over the Derby area including Hatton, Alvaston, Spondon, Chellaston, Sunny Hill, Littleover, Ticknall and Oakwood to name but a few.  We have ventured out into the countryside to Belper and over to the beer brewing town of Burton.  We have also travelled to Leicester to carry out our regular servicing for a school Academy Trust.  The lads have also been carrying out EICR’s in Nottingham.  The vans are now certainly ready for a good wash and valet.

Our venture into Solar PV Installation

As mentioned earlier,  alongside our busy work schedule this month we have also been getting prepared for our venture into  Solar PV installation.  Following on from our ‘Working at Heights’, ‘PASMA’ and ‘Scaffold Training’ late last year.  This month we have completed ‘BPEC Solar PV Installation Training’ which gives us the qualifications to install Solar Panels on homes and commercial properties.

We have also completed numerous installer training courses for various Solar Panel Manufacturers, to ensure that we are up to speed with their products.

As a company we are very excited about our new venture in Solar PV installation.  Myself and Colin used to work for a Solar company many years ago.  It certainly feels good to get our teeth stuck into it again.

As the month reaches its end, it’s good to see what a busy month April has been for us.  We have so far completed two Solar PV installs in Findern and Chellaston both consisting of 12 panels.  We have thoroughly enjoyed taking on this new challenge.   As the weather has been kind to us it’s been nice to get some fresh air and also to work together as a team. The jobs have gone smoothly with very few teething problems and ourselves and our customers are delighted with the results.  We have many quotes for Solar PV lined up and more installs booked in to carry out in the months of May and June.  Hopefully the sun will shine for us and we will look like we’ve had a week in the Mediterranean by the start of July.
